Author Spotlight~ Angela Smith


Angela Thomas Smith is an Author, and the Co-Founder of Pushing Grace Network and AAALAC {African American Authors Literacy Campaign} She works hard to help bring awareness to African American Authors and also to the issue of literacy in our states!


AU Mag: When did you first start writing?

Angela: I’ve always keep journals but never published anything until September 2016.


AU Mag: What motivated you to become an author?

Angela: I decided that I needed to share my story because God has blessed me he gave me a platform to reach other women and youth.


AU Mag: Tell us a little about your book.

Angela: It is  an inspiration collaboration with other co-authors.  I shared my story of losing my mom 12 days after my 16th birthday.  I share how i dealt with that.


AU Mag: If there was one message that you would hope a reader takes away from your book(s), what would it be, and why?

Angela: The Jeremiah 29:11 is real and God has a plan for each of us.  We have to discover our purpose and active our faith so he can use us for his Glory.


AU Mag: What audience do you think would be interested or would benefit in reading your book?

Angela: Teen to adult can benefit,  i will encourage you to press on.


AU Mag: Do you remember the first story you ever wrote? If so, what was it and what was it about?

Losing my mom and how dealt with losing her.


AU Mag: What motivates you to continue writing?

Angela: I’m motivated because i have a lot to share that can help someone that may be going through something similar overcome.


AU Mag: When you are not writing, how do you spend your time?

Angela: My nonprofit organization Pushing Grace Networking Group, Placed with a purpose ministries, African American Author Literacy Campaign  and varies other organizations gets my time when I’m not writing.


AU Mag: What words of encouragement would you say to others who may want to become an author?

Angela: Follow your heart, step out on faith and just allow God to use you.


AU Mag: Do you have any upcoming events that you would like to share?

Angela: On Saturday, March 11th, we are having our 4th stop for our “Chasing Your Dreams” Tour in Clemson SC at the Clemson Area African American Museum. We are also preparing to go to Atlanta to continue our “Chasing Your Dreams” Tour on March 25th.
